Chief Stephen Whitehead was born and raised in Westfield Fire Department's territory. He began his fire service career in 1985 as a volunteer for Westfield Fire Department, where he has continued to serve as a volunteer and part-time employee off and on since that time. After graduating from MacArthur High School in 1987, Stephen joined the United States Air Force as a Fire Protection Specialist until 1990. After his military service, he was hired by Houston Fire Department where he has progressed through the ranks to his current role as District Chief.


Stephen holds an Associates degree from Houston Community College in Fire Science as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Safety and Fire Management from the University of Houston-Downtown. He also holds numerous certifications including Emergency Medical Technician, Master Firefighter, Fire Investigator, Instructor II, Safety Officer, and Driver/Operator. Aside from his certifications and education, Stephen has also been recognized with numerous accolades and awards for service from both Westfield and Houston Fire Department.
